We’ve put together a list of tips and resources to help keep
yourself, your home, and your family safe.

Fire Safety / Preparation:

For the best protection, install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home, especially near sleeping areas. Test or change batteries every six months.

Have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and other areas of the home in case of emergency, and make sure you and those in your household know how it works.

Create and practice a home fire escape plan with two ways out of every room.

Have furnaces, water heaters and other gas appliances, as well as chimneys and flues, inspected regularly.

Fire Prevention Tips:

Always blow candles out when you leave the room or before you go to sleep.

Never use kerosene or gas space heaters in unvented rooms. Move all (gas or electric) space heaters away from any flammable items or materials.

Keep any backyard fire pits contained within a fire-proof containing wall at least 10-feet from any structures or fuel sources, and have water or sand readily available to put out the fire.
